How We Work
Case X is a tight, high-output team building real products used by real officers and detectives on real cases. We prioritize clarity, autonomy, and craftsmanship. Everyone is responsible for shipping, maintaining, and improving the product.
We do not have layers of bureaucracy. Every engineer is a Product Engineer: expected to understand users deeply, validate ideas quickly, and drive initiatives that advance the mission.

Engineers work directly with practitioners, observe real workflows, and explore ideas that may evolve into core product capabilities. Founding Engineer
We're looking for a founding engineer excited to build foundational systems, define the product experience, and shape the company's culture from day one.
What You'll Bring
- Strong experience with modern web technologies (React, Next.js, Node.js, Python)
- Familiarity with LLMs (voice + chat), vector DBs, embeddings, RAG workflows, and applied ML, with experience bringing these technologies into production environments.
- Ability to work across the stack and ship quickly - backend, front end, infra.
- A product mindset focused on simplicity and real user needs
- A desire to work on high-impact, mission-driven technology
What You'll Do
- Build core features across our reporting, case, and intelligence products
- Architect robust, scalable systems that handle unstructured narratives, structured data, multimedia, and real-world edge cases
- Work directly with end users — detectives, officers, and agency staff — to refine workflows and validate usability
- Make durable technical decisions that set the foundation for a multi-product ecosystem
- Help define engineering practices, culture, and velocity
- Contribute to new product lines, including tools for case triage, investigative search, real-time insights, and automated workflows that accelerate case resolution
